Surface functionalization, degradation, and corrosion

 

Corrosion of metals is a costly form of damage that has accompanied mankind since the very introduction of metals, thousands of years ago. Slow but persistence corrosion threatens national heritages indoor and outdoor and the direct and indirect cost of corrosion is escalating globally. However almost a quarter of corrosion cost could be avoided by employing efficient corrosion protection strategies. In a battle against corrosion, we develop green and efficient corrosion inhibitors and protective coatings and utilize electrochemical, microscopy and spectroscopic tools as well as simulations to characterize their properties in short and long term exposure to corrosive media.
