Schmidt, Jochen (Dr. rer. nat.)

Curriculum Vitae:

Jochen Schmidt is leader of the additive manufacturing group at the Institute of Particle Technology. He studied chemistry at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena from 2000 to 2004. There, he also obtained his doctoral degree in Physical Chemistry in 2008. His research focus is on the development of processes for production and functionalization of materials for Additive Manufacturing (AM), with an emphasis on novel particle systems for polymer powder bed fusion (PBF), and the characterization of AM materials. Damm, Cornelia (Dr. rer. nat.)

Curriculum Vitae:

Cornelia Damm is research associate in the Institute of Particle Technology at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg. She obtained her undergraduate (1995) and doctorate degrees (1999) in Chemistry at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. Her current research interests are carbon based materials, production of Few Layer Graphene and other nanomaterials by stirred media milling, bottom-up synthesis of nanoparticles as well as nanoparticle classification.

Cornelia is responsible for organizing the teaching activities at the Institute of Particle Technology.

Walter, Johannes (Dr.-Ing.)

Curriculum Vitae:

Johannes Walter is postdoctoral researcher and group leader for nanoparticle characterization in the liquid phase at the Institute of Particle Technology. He obtained his diploma thesis (2012) in Chemical and Biological Engineering and his doctorate (2017) in Particle Technology both at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Since December 2018, he is scientific coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Center for Functional Particle Systems and since 2020 managing director of the Collaborative Research Centre 1411 “Design of Particulate Products”. His research interests focus on multidimensional characterization of nanoparticles with respect to size, shape, density and spectral properties. In particular, he develops new techniques and methodologies for analytical ultracentrifugation and analytical centrifugation.

Stiegler, Lisa (Dr.)

Curriculum Vitae:

Dr. Lisa Stiegler studied chemistry at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg. During her bachelor thesis she worked on fullerides and hydro-fullerides in a laboratory of the Joint Institute of Advanced Materials and Processes (ZMP) in Fürth. She performed her master thesis in a Cluster of Excellence Engineering of Advanced Materials (EAM) in Erlangen while working on novel high-performance nanomaterials. From 2016 to 2021 she dealt with her doctoral thesis to the topic “Shell-by-Shell Functionalization of Metal Oxide Nanoparticles via Solvophobic Interactions” in the Chemikum in Erlangen under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Andreas Hirsch (Chair of Organic Chemistry II). Since January 2022 she is working in the Institute of Particle Technology (LFG) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Peukert on a project of the CRC 1411 Design of Particulate Products focusing sedimentation studies of nanoparticles analyzed by analytical ultracentrifugation. Dr. Lisa Stiegler is always open for networking and collaborating. So if you are interested in a cooperation just let her know.

Dr.-Ing. Muhammad Usman Farid completed PhD Process Engineering from the Otto-von-Guericke University, Magdeburg Germany in 2018. During his PhD, he worked in collaboration with the project partner Fraunhofer (IFF) Magdeburg where he worked with the IFF Business Unit, “Process and Plant Engineering”. He also worked as a Lecturer (Environmental Engineering) in the Department of Structures and Environmental Engineering at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad Pakistan where he has been supervising a Research Group comprising of MSc and PhD students.
