Curriculum Vitae:

Paola Cardenas Lopez is a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute of Particle Technology at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics from Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán in Mérida, Mexico. During her undergraduate studies, she conducted research at CINVESTAV Mérida, where she wrote her thesis on “P-N Heterojunctions in CdTe Solar Cells Using CdS Macro-Prisms.” As part of the international exchange program MEXFITEC, she spent a year at INSA Rennes in France.

In 2020, she earned a Master’s degree from the Elite Master’s program in Advanced Materials and Processes at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, specializing in nanomaterials and process simulation. Her master’s thesis, “In-Situ Experimental Investigation of Particle Formation Mechanisms,” was conducted at the Institute of Particle Technology. During her studies, she gained industrial experience through an internship at Schaeffler, where she worked in quality control management, and as a student assistant at Fraunhofer IISB.

Her research interests focus on method development for the advanced characterization of functional particles and nanoparticles, with a particular emphasis on sedimentation analytics.
